Concrete Driveways

A properly poured concrete driveway can last 30 years or more with very little maintenance. The key word there is “properly.” The longevity of a concrete driveway comes down to sub-base preparation, the right concrete mix, proper forming, and good finishing technique.

Driveway Repair

Not every cracked or damaged driveway needs to be replaced. Depending on the type and extent of the damage, repair is sometimes the smarter and more cost-effective option. We take an honest look at what’s going on and give you a straight answer about whether repair or replacement makes more sense for your situation.

Concrete Patios

A concrete patio gives you a clean, durable outdoor surface that holds up through Tennessee’s heat, rain, and occasional ice. It can be a simple, functional slab or something more decorative with stamped patterns and color. Either way, it’s a space you’ll actually use.

Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete is a way to get the appearance of brick, stone, or wood on a driveway, patio, pool deck, or walkway without the higher material and labor costs that come with those materials. The finish is created by pressing patterns into the concrete before it cures, then applying color and sealer.

We pour residential and commercial concrete foundations built to local code, with proper rebar placement and concrete mix design for the load and soil conditions involved.

Concrete Footings

Footings transfer the weight of a structure down into stable soil. They need to be the right depth, the right width, and the right concrete strength for the job. This is not an area where shortcuts pay off, and we don’t take them.

Slab Foundations

Slab-on-grade construction is common across East Tennessee. We prepare the sub-base, install vapor barriers where needed, place rebar, and pour slabs that meet code and hold up over time. This applies to residential homes, garages, commercial buildings, and outbuildings.

Why Homeowners and Businesses Choose United Concrete Construction

This section is not about us. It is just useful information for anyone who is about to hire a concrete contractor, whether that ends up being us or someone else.

Licensing and insurance matter more than price.

If a contractor is not properly licensed and insured and something goes wrong on your property, you could be left holding the liability. Always ask for proof of both before signing anything.

Permits exist for a reason.

Foundations, structural work, and many other concrete projects require permits from the city or county. A contractor who skips permits is cutting corners in a way that can come back to haunt you, especially if you ever sell your home.

Ask about the concrete mix.

Different applications call for different concrete strength ratings, water-to-cement ratios, and aggregate types. A contractor who cannot explain what mix they are using and why is worth questioning.

Sub-base preparation is where most concrete failures start.

Poor compaction, the wrong gravel depth, and improper grading are the most common reasons concrete cracks and settles ahead of schedule. Ask what sub-base prep is included in your quote.

Get the full scope in writing.

Before any work begins, make sure you have a written contract that includes the scope of work, materials being used, the project timeline, the payment schedule, and what the warranty covers. Verbal agreements are hard to enforce.
